Role summary

The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team is seeking a passionate and experienced therapist to lead their Dysphagia service. The role involves providing autonomous care to babies, children, and young people with dysphagia, alongside managing a small caseload of preschool children with complex speech, language, and communication needs. Essential criteria

  • Significant experience as a Speech and Language Therapist working within specialist field (e.g. paediatric dysphagia / complex needs)
  • Extensive experience of carrying out specialist assessments and intervention relevant to the client group
  • Extensive experience of supervising less experienced SLTs
  • Advanced knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the client group
  • Advanced knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group
  • Established knowledge of the national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
  • Leadership skills, including self-leadership
  • Degree / diploma or other professional Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • Registered with HCPC
  • MSc or equivalent post graduate study and training in Dysphagia
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a uni/ multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate highly complex or sensitive advice and information to others
  • Able to manage competing demands/ priorities. Be flexible and organised.

Job summary

The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team are seeking a passionate and experienced therapist to join as our Lead for Dysphagia.

We are looking for a therapist who has significant experience and is autonomous in providing care to babies, children and young people with dysphagia. The post also includes a small caseload of preschool children with complex speech, language and communication needs.

Hounslow Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service is a large well integrated team. We are committed to supporting staff in developing their skills and expertise. We offer a comprehensive supervision and appraisal structure, peer support and both internal and external CPD opportunities.

In support of the above the role includes the opportunity to be involved in training and supervision of staff as well as service development. The senior leadership team works closely together to continue to shape and develop the service, alongside other leads in Children's Therapy Services e.g. physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
