Role summary
This role involves providing specialist occupational therapy assessments and recovery-focused interventions to service users with complex mental health needs within the ADAPT Service. The post holder will support individuals in developing independence, meaningful routines, and participation in daily, social, and vocational activities. It requires collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development, and supervising support staff and students.
Essential criteria
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to maintaining a professional portfolio.
Desirable criteria
- Fieldwork Educator qualification or willingness to undertake training.
- Additional training relevant to mental health occupational therapy practice.
- Evidence of postgraduate study or specialist training in mental health, vocational rehabilitation or psychological interventions.
- Post-registration experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience working within mental health services.
- Experience of undertaking occupational therapy assessments and delivering individual and group interventions.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of working within community mental health services.
- Experience of supervising students, support workers or junior staff.
- Experience of participating in audit, research, service development or quality improvement activities
- Skills / Abilities / Knowledge
- Specialist knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments and interventions relevant to mental health.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload and manage a clinical caseload effectively.
- Risk assessment, risk management and care planning skills.
- Knowledge of current mental health legislation, policy and best practice guidance
- Presentation, teaching and training skills
- Knowledge and use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools and vocational rehabilitation approaches.
