Role summary
This is an internal secondment opportunity for a Deputy Operational Lead within the North and South Podiatry service. The role involves supporting the delivery and development of Podiatry services, coordinating patient journeys to ensure efficiency, and developing leadership skills. It offers a mix of home and office-based working with travel within Staffordshire/Stoke on Trent. The successful candidate will work closely with operational leads and the Podiatry team.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of Podiatry services and their ongoing development.
- Work in partnership with Podiatry Operational Leads and the team to coordinate services.
- Oversee the patient journey, ensuring it is patient-focused, efficient, and effective.
- Develop skills in Operational management and Leadership within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Work in conjunction with various leads and managers to develop and deliver safe and effective services.
- Undertake a team coach role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the MSK Service.
- Deputise for the Operational Lead/s if required.
Essential criteria
- Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Leadership and Management or working towards or equivalent experience in relevant clinical, professional or managerial role.
- Evidence of ongoing continued professional development.
- Experience in working with operational and/or project management roles in the NHS.
- Experience of being facilitating service developments.
- Experience of services/projects and/or delivering clinical services
- Experience of delivering service changes and developments.
- In-depth knowledge of local commissioning and provider context including health, social care and education.
- Knowledge and understanding of Community Services
- Knowledge and understanding of current and proposed initiatives impacting on health services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to listen to and respect others' views and opinions.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, commissioners and partner agencies.
- Ability to build credibility and work collaboratively with others across the service.
- Ability to influence others at various levels across the organisations.
- Effective people management skills, ability to create a culture where staff are valued and supported.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, able to analyse a situation, identify root causes and seek solutions to address the problem
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Effective decision-making skills.
- Excellent IT skills, ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate contentious and conflicting information in a sensitive and tactful manner, particularly where there may be resistance or barriers to understanding.
- Understanding of finance and budget management.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and utilise complex information for planning and reporting purposes.
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in management and/or leadership.

We have an exciting opportunity for a deputy operational lead in the North and South Podiatry service. You will work closely with the operational leads to support the delivery of Podiatry services and their ongoing development, whilst developing their own leadership skills.
The post allows a mix of home working and office-based working, with travel to MPFT bases within Staffordshire / Stoke on Trent as required.
Main duties of the job
You must have excellent IT skills, in addition to great communication skills.
You will be working in partnership with the two Podiatry Operational Leads and the Podiatry team to coordinate services and oversee the patient journey making sure every part of the pathway is patient focussed, efficient and effective, ensuring right person, right place, right time.
