Role summary
This role involves delivering manual handling training sessions to staff across various specialities, including during Welcome Events and mandatory training. The trainer will provide practical demonstrations and supervision, and also monitor and update the database of manual handling equipment. They will support the Manual Handling Lead in ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and audit requirements.
Essential criteria
- Accredited Train the trainer course.
- Manual Handling Link course.
- Must be physically able to demonstrate good practice in all aspects of moving and handling techniques and equipment using good posture.
- Knowledge and experience
- Experience of working in direct patient handling role.
- Working knowledge / competence of use of mobile patient hoists, slide sheets and other transfer devices.
- Working knowledge of Lifting Equipment and Lifting Operations Regulations and the responsibility to examine hoist fabric equipment for safety, and willingness to undertake specialist training to do this is an integral part of the role.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Job summary
Working Part time: 22.5 hours per week
The Manual handling Trainer role helps to support with all staff training on Welcome Events, Mandatory training for all specialities and any bespoke training. To provide information, practical demonstrations and involvement and supervision within the Training room.
The Manual Handling Trainer will also support The Manual Handling Lead to comply with Manual Handling Policy, Legislation and audit compliance.
Main duties of the job
Plan, develope, deliver and implement training sessions autonomously and constantley evaluating each staff group, sessions and practical elements.
Monitoring all Manual Handling equipment in use around the Trust COCH and EPH, and updating database of equipment.
Assist and support the Manual Handling Lead to promote, and maintain safe practice throughout the Trust.
