Role summary
This role is for a Children's Speech & Language Therapist, fixed-term for 12 months, to join Bromley Healthcare's expanding team. You will provide assessment and therapy services to a mixed paediatric caseload with speech, language, and communication needs, including report writing and training for parents/carers. The service is developing a Universal, Targeted Specialist model in mainstream schools and expanding its buy-in service in various educational settings. The role involves working with children with a variety of severe, additional, and complex needs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and provide universal, targeted, and specialist speech and language therapy services to patients with speech, language, and communication needs.
- Make differential diagnoses based on assessment evidence to guide intervention/treatment decisions.
- Communicate complex condition-related information to patients, carers, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Negotiate and collaborate with patients, carers, families, and other professionals to agree on decision-making and care plans.
- Initiate and provide various treatment options, including the use of interpreters and alternative/augmentative communication methods.
Essential criteria
- Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
- successful completion of RCSLT newly qualified competencies
- Health Professions Council License to practice
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Evidence of developing responsibility for clinic and caseload management.
- Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups.

- Ability to transcribe speech phonetically.
- Skills in handling clients/ patients with disabilities.
- Ability to maintain intense concentration in all aspects of patient management for prolonged periods.
