Role summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse with strong ophthalmic skills and knowledge to join a friendly, supportive nursing team in the Ophthalmology Department at Milton Keynes University Hospital. This role involves providing excellent nursing care, supervising junior staff, and contributing to nursing developments. The eye clinic is an offsite facility in central Milton Keynes, offering clinics, procedure rooms, and a theatre. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dynamic, patient-focused, and a team player.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (Adult)
- Relevant Mentorship or equivalent qualification
- Degree in nursing or any other relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Evidence of post registration education
- Evidence of Ophthalmic nurse training.
Desirable criteria
- First line management/leadership course
- Evidence of career development
- Relevant experience in clinical setting
- Evidence of regular shift management of a ward/clinical area
- Mentorship of student nurses
- Evidence of provision of high standards of care
- Evidence of management and leadership
- Experience in change management
- Evidence of staff development
- Excellent communication (verbal and written)
- Diplomacy and negotiation skills
- Computer literate
