Role summary

This role involves providing comprehensive healthcare building maintenance services during night shifts. The Maintenance Assistant will act as a first responder for out-of-hours tasks and perform pre-planned maintenance on systems, plant, and maintenance areas. Duties include carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, assisting other trades, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The post holder will report to the Estates Supervisor and managers.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist other trades as required by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Use all relevant tools and equipment, understanding how to manipulate fine tools and equipment.
  • Maintain workshops, stores, switch-rooms, boiler-house and plant-rooms and surrounding areas clean and tidy.
  • Comply with all statutory regulations including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work.
  • Undertake statutory planned, reactive maintenance tasks and Inspections.

Essential criteria

  • Level 3 Vocational Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Good Standard of General Education
  • Ability to undertake training when necessary and learn new techniques
  • Must be able to demonstrate behaviors consistent with Trusts Values And Behaviours
  • Basic Understanding of Construction, building engineering techniques
  • Good Understanding of tools and equipment used in maintenance activities
  • Experience of working within a similar environment
  • Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems of a highly complex and contentious nature

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Job summary

The role of the Estates Maintenance Assistant (Nights) is to be part of a team providing comprehensive Healthcare building maintenance service to all wards and departments within a multidisciplinary environment, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

This role is working Night shifts and acting as a first responder for out of hour's maintenance tasks and also carrying out pre-planned maintenance activities on both systems, engineering plant and maintenance areas.

To carry out planned and reactive maintenance task to a high standard that is commensurate with the skills and experience for the role.

The post holder will be reporting, on a day to day basis, to the Estates Supervisor and Estates maintenance managers. However, will carry out routine duties referring to SOP's as and when required.

Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not justify the attention of a fully qualified craftsman, related to his training and/or experience
