Role summary

CFHD is seeking Senior Occupational Therapists to provide specialist support within the Experts at Hand service for children and young people. The role involves offering advice, consultation, training, and targeted interventions, working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team. You will assess and intervene for children with various difficulties, aiming to build capacity within early years, school, and post-16 settings. This position is based within the Physical and Sensory Pathway, offering development and CPD opportunities within a supportive community service.

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Diploma level specialist training or experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • Post-graduate certified courses specific to childrens needs (e.g. Sensory training; ADOS, 3di etc)
  • Membership of professional body
  • To work within trust clinical guidelines and Royal College of OT and HCPC standards
  • To have working knowledge of national and local standards and monitor own quality and safety of practice
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practice and specialist approaches
  • Extensive knowledge of legislation affecting clinical practice such as manual handling, housing and SEND
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of Occupational Therapy therapeutic interventions for children and young people including but not inclusive to: manual handling, specialist equipment, 24-hour postural management, fine motor, sensory differences and housing adaptations
  • Knowledge of a wide range of Occupational Therapy assessment tools appropriate to meet a wide range of needs in the paediatric population
  • Knowledge and use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures

CFHD are looking to

recruit Senior Occupational Therapists to provide specialist

Occupational Therapy support within the Experts at Hand service through advice,

consultation, modelling of strategies, training, and targeted intervention.

There are 5 positions available. 1.0 wte in North, 1.0 wte and 0.5 wte in East, and 2 1.0 wte in South localities.

The post-holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team

and autonomously to support children and young people, families, and

professionals by building capacity within early years, school and post-16

settings, delivering training, and offering time-limited direct interventions

where indicated.

You will need to be able

to provide a high standard of assessment and intervention for the children and

young people that we work with.

The post is based within the Physical and Sensory Pathway whilst

working closely with colleagues across the other pathways within CFHD. We are

an innovative, dedicated and friendly service with both development and CPD

opportunities.
