Role summary
Join the renal pharmacy team to support safe and effective medicines management for renal patients. This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams, providing training, undertaking dispensing duties, and contributing to service development. You will deliver high-quality medicines management services across various renal settings, including wards, dialysis units, and clinics. The position requires an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician or someone working towards it, with a passion for patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality medicines management services across renal wards, dialysis units, clinics, home therapies and specialist treatment areas.
- Support medicines reconciliation, medication supply, patient counselling and compliance with clinical policies.
- Undertake accredited final accuracy checking.
- Support staff training and development.
- Participate in audits and service improvement projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and respond to patient and staff enquiries.
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and BTEC in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent
- Registered with GPhC as a technician
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT)
- Current, relevant knowledge of hospital pharmacy procedures acquired though training, experience and knowledge
- An accreditation in Medicines Management
- Appropriate post qualification hospital experience
- Achievement of Knowledge Skills Framework for band 5 post
- Ability to work within clearly defined occupational polices and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Proven ability to manage own workload and the workload of others, delegating supervision activities as appropriate
- Knowledge and experience of recording data, including sensitive information, on pharmacy computerized data record systems
- Experience of dispensing drugs for patients, clients in specialist area, providing advice to patients, carers

Join our renal pharmacy team to support safe and effective medicines management, improve patient care, and ensure continuity of medication supply for renal patients. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, provide training and support to healthcare staff, undertake dispensing duties, and contribute to service development while maintaining the highest professional standards.
You must be an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician or working towards it. You will have an enthusiastic approach to education and training, multidisciplinary team working and a passion for frontline patient care. Full training will be provided on medicines reconciliation and other in house procedures.
The working pattern includes a weekly late night until 6:30, 1 in 8 weekends as per the rota and 1 bank holiday per year.
