Role summary
This is a senior clinical leadership role for an experienced podiatrist to shape and develop podiatry services in Ceredigion. You will act as a clinical expert, driving high-quality standards, service improvement, and performance management. The role involves managing a complex caseload, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with vascular, diabetes, and musculoskeletal conditions. You will also contribute to the professional development of the podiatry workforce through training and mentorship, and support service improvement through audit and research.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of high-quality clinical standards in podiatry services.
- Manage a varied and challenging caseload, providing expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for complex conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support patient pathways and provide specialist clinical advice.
- Design and deliver specialist training, competency frameworks, and educational programmes for the podiatry workforce.
- Champion continuous professional development, providing supervision, mentorship, and support to staff.
- Support service improvement through audit, research, and evaluation.
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Podiatric Medicine and registration with the HCPC.
- Local anaesthesia certificate.
- Master's Degree or equivalent level of specialist experience in area of clinical expertise.
- Evidence of postgraduate study appropriate for delivering advanced practice such as independent prescribing, injection therapy, diagnostic ultrasound.
- Radiology competency
- Evidence of advanced clinical practice in area of speciality
- Evidence of MDT working.
- Experience in consultant led clinics
- Significant experience working as an autonomous practitioner.
- Experience managing a complex caseload using an advanced clinical reasoning process.
- Experience in assisting in leading service developments
- Experience of referring for and analysing the results of tests
- Experience in delivering audit
- Experience in delivering training to staff on complex matters
Desirable criteria
- Certificate Health Education or Promotion MSc modules in podiatric medicine in a specialist area.
- Member of the College of Podiatrists.
- Evidence of leadership courses/ qualifications
- Non-medical prescribing qualification
- Evidence of team management
- Experience of service development across professional boundaries
- Experience in undertaking risk assessments
- Experience of health promotion and preventative developments within service
- Teaching and educational assessment experience
- Welsh Speaker (level 1)
