Role summary
This role involves providing safe and supportive care to patients, relatives, and loved ones within dynamic and friendly teams at Royal Stoke Hospital. You will communicate patient changes to registered nurses, interact professionally with patients and visitors, and undertake relevant training including the Care Certificate. The position requires working shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Take part in the appraisal process each year.
- Communicate and report any changes or information relating to the patient to the Registered Nurse.
- Communicate appropriately with patients and visitors to the Ward or Department, portraying a professional respectful manner.
- Receive patients, visitors and staff in a calm, friendly and efficient manner.
- Exchange information with patients using reassurance, tact and empathy, overcoming barriers to understanding.
- Undertake any training packages relevant to the healthcare setting and on-going training as determined by the Trust and their line manager.
Essential criteria
- 12 months contractual care experience
- Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent) IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
- Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willing/required to complete if successful (If applicant has 3 years or more care experience this is voluntary).

- Evidence of professional development activity undertaken in relevant areas

Job summary
At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.
