Role summary

This role is for an experienced mental health practitioner to join the Lewes Neighbourhood Mental Health Team in Newhaven. It involves assessment, care coordination, risk management, and crisis prevention for adults with severe mental illness. The practitioner will work collaboratively with service users and carers to help them achieve their goals and live independently. Applications are particularly welcomed from Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and RMNs.

Essential criteria

  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Practice Education training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools
  • Knowledge/Exprience
  • Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working

Job summary

Lewes Neighbourhood Mental Health Team in Newhaven is a lively specialist, multi-disciplinary service for adults with severe mental illness. The base is in Newhaven, in the middle of the beautiful South Downs National Park and only a few miles from the cosmopolitan city of Brighton.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for experienced mental health practitioners to join our team and we particularly welcome applications from Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and RMNs.

The role is an exciting mix of assessment, care coordination, risk management and crisis prevention and there is a range of opportunities to get involved in innovative group treatments, psychoeducational interventions and research projects.

We work collaboratively with our wonderful service users to help them achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. We work with Carers and the system around the person to create opportunities for growth and stability.
