Role summary
This is a pivotal role within the Operations team, providing a confidential and comprehensive patient-centred service focused on patient flow. The post holder will support the identification and placement of patients appropriately and timely, working with adult inpatient services to agreed protocols. This role requires working with minimum supervision, coordinating activities with the team to ensure an efficient bed management service, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Essential criteria
- o Good general educational standards including GCSE or equivalent English and Mathematics o NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent
- o Significant experience working in an acute trust. o An understanding of flow and capacity across a healthcare organisation o Experience in communicating with multi-disciplinary teams o Proven experience of working unsupervised. o Experience of data inputting, data analysis and retrieval o Proven ability to manage individual projects across organisational boundaries using tact and initiative when communicating with key stakeholders. o Experience of following policies and procedures. o Experience of managing patient flows. o Knowledge of access waiting times
Desirable criteria
- o Decision making and resolving complex work related issues.
- o Insight and knowledge into patient flow for emergency, elective and surgical patients. o Good organiser with persuasion and influencing skills coupled with an awareness of organisational politics. o Strong negotiation/influencing skills with staff at all levels. o Ability to work and make decisions and escalate as required. o Competent levels of computer literacy are required. o Excellent oral and written English skills o A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). o Excellent Communication skills and ability to liaise on multiple levels and multiple platforms. o Ability to work accurately under pressure without supervision and direction. o Ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines. o Ability to work autonomously. o Working knowledge of current IT systems. o Understanding of the Trust's policy on "Delivering Same Sex Accommodation". o Understanding of Trust Infection Control policy.
- o An understanding of external IT systems such as EMS and CAD. o Knowledge of information governance.
- o Working knowledge of MS Office packages: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. o Maintain a high level of accuracy and able to track information. o Frequent periods of concentration o Able to demonstrate good persuasion and influencing skills o Able to recognise and resolve complex issues referring where appropriate o Ability to work in a busy environment and under pressure. o Excellent level of verbal and written communication and influencing skills. o Able to use judgement and initiative to provide information and support and present to others in a coherent and logical way. o Ability to anticipate the requirements of the Clinical Site Practitioner Team

Job summary
This is a pivotal role within the Operations team to provide a confidential and comprehensive patient centred service regarding patient flow. To support delivery of the Key Performance targets.
The post holder works with all adult inpatient services to support identification and placement of and patients appropriately and timely, working to agreed protocols and procedures.
The post holder will be expected to work with the minimum of supervision and co-ordinate his/her activities with the members of the Team in order that an efficient service is provided.
The post holder will be expected to spend periods of time working under his/her own initiative. The post holder will carry out the duties in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work and to assist the Team to maximise the most effective bed management service. It is essential that the post holder exercise initiative commensurate with the role and vital that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
