Role summary
This role is for a qualified Health Visitor, Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, working autonomously within the Integrated Early Years Service in Hillingdon. You will manage a designated caseload of children and families, aiming to improve their health and potential. The position involves collaborative work with other agencies, child protection duties, and supporting public health initiatives to reduce health inequalities.
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate with the multi-disciplinary team, present cases, take note of actions, update others in the team and use handover effectively. Speaking face to face but also by telephone and writing letters and reports.
- Maintaining accurate, timely, concise and legible clinical records both electronic and handwritten which adhere to the CNWL policies and be competent in using Word, Teams, Zoom, Outlook and other electronic systems
- Work well with other members of the team including communicating effectively, being kind and considerate, reliable and enthusiastic
- Mentor, teach and support others in the team
Desirable criteria
- Supervision and appraisal training.
- Registered Nurse [NMC Registered]
- Registered Specialist Practitioner Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor)
- Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development
- Mentorship Preparation Module/ ENB 998/ Practice Assessor
- Degree or Master's level study in a relevant field (e.g. Public Health, Child Health)
- Nurse Prescriber qualification (V100/V300)
- Previous Experience
- Experience of working with children, families, and/or vulnerable groups
- Ability to work autonomously while recognising limits and seeking support appropriately.
- Knowledge of safeguarding children, including current legislation and local procedures
- Experience of delivering the Healthy Child Programme
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards
- Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
- Awareness of current public health priorities (e.g. health inequalities).
- Knowledge of information governance and confidentiality requirements (e.g. GDPR).
- Experience in community settings
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing service demands and methods of working both individually and within a team.
- Attitudes, aptitudes, personal characteristics
- Caring for the people who use our services, their families and carers, and other staff
- Respectful of others and genuinely treating them how you would want to be treated
- Able and willing to work with service users, family and carers, and other staff in a way which empowers and supports others and makes them feel better about themselves
- Able and willing to work in partnership with service users, their friends and family as well as other health care professionals

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a qualified Health Visitor. You will work autonomously as part of the Integrated Early Years Service (Health Visiting & Family Support) managing a designated caseload of children and families, in order to improve their health and enable them to reach their full potential.
You will work collaboratively with other agencies to provide high quality care to children and families. Child protection work will involve gathering and analysing information to make informed assessments, appropriate referrals and participating and contributing at case conferences and core group meetings.
