Role summary
This role is for a Clinical Physiologist or Clinical Scientist in Neurophysiology, based at Birmingham Treatment Centre and Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. The post holder will perform a range of neurophysiology diagnostic tests, including EEG modalities and nerve conduction clinics, and contribute to the smooth running of the service. There is also a requirement to participate in an out-of-hours EEG rota and supervise junior staff. CPD is encouraged, and the team meets monthly for staff and quality meetings.
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training (Other appropriate qualifications e.g. BTEC HNC/D in MPPM / or equivalent experience + professional exam
- Registration RCCP or AHCS

- Registration with HCPC
- MSc Neurosensory Science (STP)
- Practical experience, familiarity and proven abilities with the range of investigations across the 3 NP modalities:- EEG, Peripheral Neurophysiology & EPs including interpretation and reporting
- Participation in training of junior staff
- Experience of advanced techniques
- Communication
- Evidence of working and communicating in a team
- Experience of communicating with a broad range of patient groups eg children, eldery and those with learning disability
- Experience in presenting case studies or audits
- Good knowledge of conditions regularly investigated within a neurophysiology service

Job summary
Neurophysiology are seeking to recruit 2 Clinical Physiologists or Clinical Scientists dependent on qualification/registration.
Based at the Birmingham Treatment Centre (BTC) we also provide inpatient Neurophysiology diagnostic services from the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), which opened in October 2024.
Applicants should hold a relevant Neurophysiology degree and ideally for undergraduates, ANS professional exams. Registration with Academy of Healthcare Science is essential or HCPC for those with a relevant Neurophysiology Masters degree or equivalence.
Duties will include all EEG modalities including sleep, ambulatory and portable EEG and independent nerve conduction clinics, screening for carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy or peripheral neuropathy. In addition the candidate will contribute to the running of the service on a day to day basis and areas of particular interest will be supported.
CPD is encouraged and the team meet monthly for staff and quality meetings to improve the service for the benefit of patients.
There is some requirement of training junior members of the team or wider health care professions.
