Role summary
This role is for an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join the theatre team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. You will care for and support patients through their surgical journey in various theatre settings, including Emergency, Renal, Burns, and Hands theatres. The position requires flexibility for shifts including long days, weekends, on-calls, and nights. Both experienced and newly qualified ODPs are welcome, with training and support provided.
Essential criteria
- \\* Registered Adult Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner on the NMC/HCPC Register
- \\* Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC/HCPC
- \\* Previous/recent experience of working in an acute / NHS care setting (can include student/ trainee placements within the last 12 months)
- \\* Evidence of achievements and career development in current post of on going professional development/competence.
- \\* Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating others within a team/providing supervision to others
- \\* Can articulate willingness & demonstrate knowledge in relation to student supervision and assessment
- \\* (Can include experience as student Nurse registered nurse for newly qualified applicants)
- \\* Understanding and knowledge of the NMC/HCPC code of conduct
- \\* Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context in relation to the role
- \\* Can demonstrate an understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding and Mental Capacity and how this related to the role
- \\* Awareness of health and safety issues

Job summary
We're looking for ODPs to join UHB to work in Theatres at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. As an ODP your role will be to work closely with the multi-professional theatre team to care for and support patients in anaesthetics, surgery and recovery during their surgical journey through the theatre department. Roles are available in Emergency, Renal, Burns and Hands theatres
Main duties of the job
We are looking for experienced ODPs but training and support can be given to newly qualified ODPs. It's important that you're a caring and kind ODP with a genuine desire to help and support patients during their treatment in theatre. You will also need to be flexible and available to work long days, days, weekends, on calls and nights. Some of these shifts will be depending on the individual theatres.
