Role summary
This role involves being the first point of contact for The Retreat service, welcoming individuals experiencing mental health crisis and providing exceptional customer service. You will support people in distress, maintain a professional and calm demeanor, and ensure effective communication with internal and external agencies. The position also includes administrative duties, such as creating and maintaining systems, arranging meetings, and managing diaries, to support the smooth running of the service. The role is available for two evenings in Weymouth or Bournemouth.
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures and systems acquired through experience and training to Vocational Level or 3 equivalent.
- Numerate and literate
- NVQ Level 3 in a care related subject or equivalent training and or experience or willing to undertake training to this standard
- Job specific experience
- Ability to work in a team,
Desirable criteria
- Previous working in an educational, mental health setting or care setting
- Previous experience in reception, hospitality or other similar role.
- Information Technology
- Demonstrable experience of using word processing, spreadsheet , database and or presentation software to RSA or equivalent
- Experience using an electronic patient records system.
- Personal qualities/attributes
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Professional manner when liaising with people who access services , carers, staff and others.
- Additional requirements
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively.

Job summary
The Retreats, both in Weymouth and Bournemouth provide an exciting and innovative approach, delivered in partnership to support people experiencing mental health crisis.The Retreat offers an open access service for people who self-identify as in crisis and distress.
The purpose is to provide a space for people to be listened to, connect with others, access peer support and brief, recovery focused interventions.
The Retreat opened in April 2018, and is available for people to access between the hours of 4:00pm -midnight.The Front of House will be the face of this service, welcoming people into The Retreat and providing exceptional levels of customer service to people using the service as well as external stakeholders during operating hours.
There will be a requirement to perform administrative duties, supporting the service effectively by creating and utilising systems that assist the day-to-day running of the service, arranging meetings and managing diaries.
The Front of House will be confident and articulate, with experience communicating with a wide range of people, including those who may be experiencing distress. It is essential that they are welcoming and compassionate; facilitating peoples best possible experience of using The Retreat.
