Role summary
This role is for an experienced Acute Medicine/Eldercare Occupational Therapist to lead the West Cornwall Hospital Occupational Therapy Team. The successful candidate will work alongside a Team Lead Physiotherapist and nursing colleagues, focusing on assessment and discharge planning for complex patients. This is a 12-month fixed-term or secondment post, providing operational supervision and professional support.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registered
- Evidence of further formal study e.g. Postgraduate qualifications, (Postgraduate certificate/Diploma, Masters modules, or equivalent management qualification
- Member of relevant special interest group
- Experience in line with requirements for the role
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team, a good understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team.

We are looking for an experienced Acute Medicine/Eldercare Occupational Therapist to lead our West Cornwall Hospital Occupational Therapy Team, working alongside the Team Lead Physiotherapist and nursing colleagues. If you have skills in assessment and discharge planning for complex patients, this could be the role for you.
The Occupational Therapy service at West Cornwall Hospital comprises a Band 6 (currently on maternity leave, backfill being advertised) a Band 5 rotational post and a Band 4 OT Support Worker.
Operational supervision for the Band 7 Team Lead is provided by the Therapy Lead for Acute services, and the Professional Lead Occupational Therapists are available for professional advice and support.
This is a fixed term/ secondment post for 12 months.
