Role summary
This role involves carrying out all tasks related to the decontamination process for medical instruments and equipment. This includes cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisation to ensure items are safe for patient treatment. The technician will operate and maintain decontamination equipment, perform quality checks, and accurately record documentation. Essential criteria
- Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) Technical Certificate OR Vocational Level 3 Decontamination OR Equivalent level of knowledge, work experience and skills within a decontamination role
- Some knowledge of surgical Instrumentation
Desirable criteria
- Familiar with ISO13485:2016 and UKMDR 2002 (as amended)
- Welsh Language Speaking/Listening Skills at Level 3 or above
- Previous experience in Sterile Services
- Working in a clean room environment
- Work involving visual inspection and packaging

Job summary
Responsible for carrying out tasks related to the decontamination process, including the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment. These items are prepared to ensure they are safe and ready for use in patient treatment across Theatres, Wards, and other clinical departments, in compliance with established protocols and infection control standards. Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
