Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced nurse to join the Children's Emergency Department as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. The role involves taking charge of shifts, working in streaming/triage, and ensuring high standards of care for children and families. The successful candidate will also be responsible for delegating and deploying the nursing team in the absence of a Band 7 nurse.
Key responsibilities
- Provide leadership in care to children, young people and their families in the emergency department.
- Be accountable and responsible for providing a high standard of child and family focused care.
- Carry out care without direct supervision as part of the Emergency Department team and supervise juniors delivering care.
- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute towards the effective running of the department including patient safe and timely care.
Essential criteria
- RN Child branch/ RSCN
- Substantial appropriate post registration experience
- Significant experience of working in an Emergency department environment
- Safeguarding qualification
- APLS / EPLS

Job summary
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual with excellent clinical skills and ED experience to further develop their expertise as a Band 6 in ED.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would take charge in the busy ED on a shift by shift basis and also be expected to work streaming/TW shifts to enhance the skill mix at triage.
As a Band 6 nurse you will be responsible for the day to day flow of the department by ensuring the standards of care are met for children and their family / carers whilst in the emergency department, including delegation and deployment of the nursing team in the absence of a band 7.
