Role summary
This Healthcare Assistant role is on Ward 8b, a mixed ward specialising in palliative care, general medicine, and haematology, caring for 28-30 acutely unwell patients. Key responsibilities
- Participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care and use advanced clinical skills such as venepuncture, catheterisation, aseptic technique, wound care, peg feeds and syringe driver monitoring, following competency assessment.
- Participate in the ongoing assessment of patients care needs.
- Assist the Registered Nurse in the evaluation of care and maintain accurate patient charts as appropriate.
- Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care, providing reassurance and support.
- Work collaboratively with others to ensure that patients' needs are met.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to difficult situations and undertake transfer and escort of patients as appropriate.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates a willingness & capability to undertake NVQ level 3
- Demonstrable experience in hospital setting working at NVQ level 2
- Reputation for high standard of patient care
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the Healthcare setting
