Role summary
This role involves working as a Registered Health Care Professional within the Vaccination and Rapid Response Team. The post holder will deliver safe and effective vaccination services, conducting clinical assessments, planning, implementing, and evaluating activities. Responsibilities also include wider disease prevention and health promotion across Lincolnshire, responding to and managing low-level communicable disease outbreaks.
Key responsibilities
- Enable the delivery of vaccinations to all eligible patients by assisting with the overall coordination of site activity and day to day delivery of vaccination programmes.
- Administer vaccinations across all age groups in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings, in line with local and national policy, procedure and legal frameworks.
- Report and record all clinical assessments, care, and treatment: escalating any concerns and issues in a timely way.
- Conduct clinical assessments within vaccination activity and wider disease prevention and health promotion.
- Respond to episodes of low-level communicable disease outbreaks and incidents in Lincolnshire so they are managed in a rapid and effective manner.
- Conduct patient assessments, testing, and treatment/prophylaxis under the Patient Group Directive in response to low-level communicable disease outbreaks.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
- Registered Health Care Professional: registered nurse, pharmacist or paramedic
- Practical skills and knowledge of cold chain procedures and medicines management
- Able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own workloads to changing and often tight deadlines
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection legislation and information governance requirements.
- Specialist knowledge in a relevant subject to post graduate level.
- Knowledge of vaccination and immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations
- Working knowledge and literate with computer skills to use of word document, internet access and email correspondence and electronic record keeping.
- Experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary team
- Previous experience in a similar clinical role
Desirable criteria
- Non -Medical prescriber qualification or a willingness to work towards.
- Community nursing experience
- Previous experience of teaching and assessing in clinical practice
- Previous experience of disease prevention and health promotion
