Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join Hertfordshire Community Trust's Sensory Processing Service. The role involves supporting children and young people, their families, and schools with sensory processing differences and occupational performance challenges. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, delivering universal, targeted, and specialist support across Hertfordshire. The position is part-time and permanent, offering opportunities for professional development and service involvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the MDT to deliver universal, targeted, and specialist support to children, young people, and their families in various settings.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism when working in settings with a highly emotive atmosphere with multi-disciplinary Teams.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge and skills of sensory processing differences for children and young people.
  • Implement reasonable adjustments and inclusive practices.
  • Work both in a team environment and autonomously.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Very experienced in working with children and young people with sensory processing differences
  • Very experienced in supporting with children, young people and their families with occupational performance challenges.
  • Extensive experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Independent and autonomous clinician
  • The right to live and work in the UK

Desirable criteria

  • It is desirable for staff to hold/be working towards a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use with business insurance (unless the member of staff has a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

Job summary

Do you have a strong interest in working in sensory processing with children and young people, their families and schools? Do you want to be part of a pioneering service within Hertfordshire?

Hertfordshire Community Trust has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to support children and young people, their families and schools within the Sensory Processing Service.

We are looking for 0.6 WTE Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapists to bring skills and experience of working within the Sensory Processing Service. The successful candidates will also join our large and innovative team of therapists and assistance working within our community service.

*Proposed interview date: 23rd September 2026*

HCT will prioritise recruitment of workers living in England under the new immigration rules for care workers effective from 9 April 2025.
