Role summary
This is a permanent, part-time Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Worker role within the BCU East Cardiac Rehabilitation Team. The successful candidate will work alongside nurses, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, and administrators to provide appropriate cardiac rehabilitation to patients and their families in various community settings. The role involves direct patient care, office work, telephone contacts, and following protocols, requiring initiative and flexibility. Travel within Wrexham and Flintshire areas is involved.
Essential criteria
- Quality Credit Framework qualification at level 3 e.g. NVQ or OCN related to Health & Social Care
- Documented evidence of participation in training activities
- Experience & Knowledge
- Relevant experience of working within health, social care, teaching or exercise settings
- Understanding of the role of cardiac rehabilitation.
- Self-motivation for Continued Professional Development

- Awareness of Health & Safety legislation & practices.
- Ability to work independently with individuals and/or groups
- Ability to perform 12-lead ECGs and phlebotomy or agreement to undertake within 6 months of commencement of post
- Have the ability to reflect on own performance
- Computer skills e.g. use of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and data inputting
- Experience of instructing or providing input for service users/patients in groups
- Respected team member and respect for others
- Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service and prioritise workload appropriately.
- Good time management
- Adaptability to a working environment non routine in nature.

Job summary
Cardiac Rehabilitation Support Worker
Band 3
22.5 hours over 3 or 4 days between the hours of Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
Base: Cardiac Rehabilitation office in Connah's Quay Health Centre, Flintshire and occasionally in Wrexham office based in Clwydian house.
An opportunity has arisen for suitably trained, enthusiastic & motivated individual to join the BCU East Cardiac Rehabilitation Team on a permanent basis.
The support worker will work as part of the team alongside the nurse, occupational therapist, exercise physiologist and administrator in order for the patient and family to receive appropriate Cardiac Rehabilitation. The successful candidate will join the team in delivering care in various community settings.
The individual will use a number of skills to suit the variety of the job that will involve direct patient care, office work, telephone contacts and following protocols. Travel will be involved within Wrexham and Flintshire areas.
The team can be very busy and the individual must be able to use their own initiative and be flexible to aid with the smooth running of this rewarding service. Please see Job description/personal specification for further details and qualifications needed.
