Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 Clinical Supervisor within the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS), part of the Integrated Vaccination Service. You will support the management of the Community Vaccination Service, focusing on school-aged immunisations across Dorset. The position involves supervising a team of nurses and administrators, ensuring clinics are appropriately staffed, and supporting service developments. The role is based in the West of the County, with occasional support across Dorset.
Key responsibilities
- Support the management of the Community Vaccination Service, focusing on the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS).
- Support the management of a team of nurses and administrators on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure all clinics and sessions are staffed appropriately and safely.
- Support immunisation service developments consistently pan Dorset in collaboration with the Clinical Lead.
- Have oversight of the Outreach Team based in The West.
- Support with the development and implementation of innovative ways of working in the delivery of school based immunisation programmes.
Essential criteria
- Registered practitioner to degree / diploma level supplemented by diploma level specialist training and / or short courses or demonstrable extensive experience in the relevant specialty
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively, and supervise others' work.
- Demonstrable ability to evaluate data and produce reports using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience of planning and organising complex activities such as organising own time and that of junior staff and learners, planning off duty rota and undertaking discharge planning involving co-ordination with other agencies.

- Previous clinical people supervision/ management experience
- Able to act as a clinical supervisor

- Able to communicate effectively at different levels of an organisation in both verbal and written form, for example with staff, patients, visitors or external organisations in the exchange of sensitive or contentious information, which will require the use of negotiating and/or persuasive skills

- Experience of planning and organising complex activities such as organising own time and that of junior staff and learners, planning off duty rotas, involving co-ordination with other agencies and planning for sudden, unforeseen circumstances
- Experience as a registered practitioner at Band 5 level
- Demonstrates expertise and knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD in relation to clinical assessment, treatment and evaluation
- Evidence of proactive involvement in the supervision and development of members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Evidence of involvement in the development of programmes of care, protocols and audit
- Evidence of and ability to actively research for the potential to improve quality and customer care, seeking new ideas and methods to improve health care

- Able to demonstrate knowledge of health policy and its application in practice

The CVS team is part of the Integrated Vaccination Service and provides all school age children in Dorset their immunisations as per the UK Health Security Agency schedule, immunisations take place at a school or community clinic. The outreach teams also delivers vaccines to care homes and housebound patients.
