Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner/Therapy Assistant to join the Mersey Regional Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Therapy Team. The role involves working alongside Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to provide care for patients following burn injuries or plastic surgery. The successful candidate will manage an independent caseload, providing assessment and treatment, and will contribute to a 7-day service. The position requires excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload independently, providing assessment and treatment of patients with various medical conditions.
- Contribute to the identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual care interventions under supervision.
- Provide advice to clients and carers in relation to their needs and public health.
- Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and contemporaneous records and communicate information to the team.
- Provide concise handover and information updates to other team members and liaise with external agencies.
- Participate in delivering training to other staff and contribute to service development, clinical governance, research, and audit activities.
Essential criteria
- Assistant practitioner Degree and/or Equivalent Qualification
- Ability to demonstrate a good level of knowledge and skills in Therapeutic interventions
- Awareness of own strengths and limitations
- Able to work under supervision and as part of a team
- Evidence of effective working within an MDT
- Demonstrate experience of problem-solving approaches
- Demonstrates continuous Professional Development
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings
- Accurate record keeping, report writing and IT skills
- Have a flexible approach to working with good time management
- Ability to travel various hospital locations by own car/ assisted driver

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner/ Therapy Assistant to join the Mersey Regional Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Therapy Team at Whiston hospital.
The successful candidate will work alongside Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists providing care for patients from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, Isle of Man and beyond in one of the largest units in the UK.
You will work as part of a friendly, supportive therapy team who continuously strive to provide high-quality person-centred care to both in patients and outpatients following a burn injury or those that have required plastic surgery due to trauma or elective surgery. Many of our patients will have experienced a life changing event.
Interviews will take place week commencing 28th September (date TBC)
