Role summary
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to undertake the role of a Band 7 Ward Manager on a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. The post holder will have 24-hour continuing responsibility for the management of the ward, delivering quality nursing service, and implementing policies to ensure high standards of patient care. They will also be responsible for staff safety, development, and deputising for the Senior Nurse as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Carry twenty-four hour continuing responsibility for the management of the respective ward.
- Deliver a quality nursing service to all patients in their care.
- Devise and implement policies and procedures for their ward.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of staff through Health and Safety Policies.
- Assist staff in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs.
- Deputise as necessary for the Senior Nurse.
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Degree
- Experience of managing people and ability to lead staff
- Experience of working within a Mental Health Setting
Desirable criteria
- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
- Masters Degree
- Post Registration Qualification in Management
- Managing staff rosters

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to undertake the role of a Band 7 Ward Manager on our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at the Mental Health Unit, Royal Glamorgan Hospital
The suitable individual must have post registration experience at Band 6.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required, as well as leadership and organisational skills.
Negotiation and mediation skills are also necessary along with the ability to multi-task.
Evidence of continuing professional development is required and you must have a commitment to teaching.
