Role summary
This role is for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Nurse to join the Rheumatology Department. You will deliver care to a defined caseload of patients in outpatient settings and conduct nurse-led clinics. The position involves acting as a patient advocate, providing advice and education, and coordinating care with the multidisciplinary team. The department is progressive and forward-thinking, working alongside consultants, pharmacists, and therapists.

- NMC registration and significant post registration experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of degree/working towards higher degree or equivalent experience
- Experience of management/leadership skills
- Specific knowledge of area/speciality Rheumatology
- Communications and interpersonal skills
- Communicates condition related, sensitive information to patients, public and staff. Understands and overcomes barriers to communication and acceptance
- Negotiation, persuasion, motivation, reassurance, facilitation and influencing skills
- Responsibility & Accountability Contributes to be a decision maker
- Manages the clinical workload, prioritising and re-prioritising
- Non Medical Prescribing Qualification
- Deputising for senior sister/ charge nurse/ clinical nurse specialist

Job summary
You will be joining a friendly and supportive Rheumatology Department which provides comprehensive Rheumatology services for Derby and Burton together with South Derbyshire/East Staffordshire and some parts of adjoining areas of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
The Rheumatology Department is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Specialist Nurse to work within the Rheumatology team.
We are progressive forward thinking department with positive approach at meeting and delivering the current challenges of the NHS. The Rheumatology Nursing Team work alongside the consultant rheumatologist, specialist pharmacist and specialist therapist.
Main duties of the job
Under direction of the Lead Specialist Nurse
- Deliver care to defined case load of patients in an out patients settings
- Conduct nurse-led clinics
- Act as the patients advocate - maintaining patient privacy and dignity
- Provide advice, support and education to patients/significant others
- Provide advice and support to junior staff and learners
- Coordinate care with MDT, including consultants, allied health professionals and primary care services
