Role summary
This role involves working as a Clinical Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner in Neonatal Transitional Care and Special Care units. You will provide high-quality, family-centred care to sick and preterm babies, working under the supervision of a registered midwife/nurse. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care, supporting parents in caring for their babies, and promoting family-integrated care. The position requires working a full range of shifts, including nights.

- Nursing Associate on the NMC register
- OR Assistant Practitioner with a health-related Foundation Degree e.g. Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care.
- Passionate about caring for families and their babies
- Evidence of numeracy and literacy - minimum national qualification level 2
- Experience of working under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
- Knowledge of nursing procedures and practices in an acute hospital setting

- Acute apprenticeship units as appropriate to UHS Care Group/Divisional requirements
- Experience of working with newborn babies/children

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team to work across our Transitional Care Unit, and our new 'Woodland Ward' Special Care Baby Unit. We are looking for people who are dedicated to delivering high quality, family-centred care, and who strive to make a difference to babies and their families.
You will be working in both the Transitional Care Unit alongside the midwife, and Woodland Ward - a purpose built, nurse-led unit caring for sick and preterm babies which opened in October 2024.
