Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the vital blood collection team at the Welsh Blood Service in Talbot Green. The role involves supporting Senior Clinic Nurses in the safe and effective collection of blood and providing high-quality, individualised care to donors. You will develop a range of clinical skills, including whole blood collection techniques, and provide clinical leadership to ensure optimal donor care. The position requires flexibility to work across various blood collection facilities and undertake scheduled tours with overnight stays.

- Ability to assess donor needs that may be complex and subject to change. Understand the role WBS plays in the wider community. Understanding of confidentiality.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of working in a healthcare environment
- Good communication, written and numeracy skills. Confident in the use of automated equipment. Able to work methodically and accurately often with competing demands. Demonstrates the ability to promote and foster good working relationships within a team. Standard key board and IT skills. Ability and dexterity to undertake venepuncture.
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Experience of working within a customer focused environment. Experience of working in a team. Experienced in dealing with sensitive or confidential matters and an understanding of how this applies to the role.
- Experience of working people at all levels.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- First Aid Certificate

As a Collections Nurse, you will be expected to provide effective and compassionate clinical leadership to ensure optimal care of donors.
