Role summary

This role is for an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner within the Integrated Community Occupational Therapy Team. The primary responsibility is to provide over-the-phone triaging, assessment, and referral processing for Adult Social Care OT services, with no face-to-face clinical duties. The team supports individuals with long-term physical disabilities and social care needs across Staffordshire. The position is 25 hours per week, offering flexibility to work from various bases or from home once competent.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Adult Social Care OT Service by providing over the phone triaging, assessment and processing referrals.
  • Complete initial assessments over the phone and establish the clinical needs of the patient.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, initiative and team spirit.
  • Be flexible and able to work in various locations in Staffordshire, as the service requires.
  • Understand assessment and rehabilitation appropriate to the role.

Essential criteria

  • Relevant Level 3 (or above) qualification in healthcare, social care, or education
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Care Certificate is completed in all 15 areas within 12 weeks (pro rata) of commencement of contract
  • Relevant placements/experience to the role including supporting or contributing to assessment and management of individuals with compromised functional ability
  • Ability to manage time and caseload effectively
  • Working in a team
  • Experience of working in Occupational Therapy

Desirable criteria

  • Practitioner level 5 Foundation Degree or equivalent in related subject, or willing to work towards
  • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impact of disability
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team
