Role summary
This role supports the Head of Medical Education and Medical Education Improvement Lead in providing a high-quality learning environment for all learners in clinical placements. You will support resident doctors, medical students, physician associates, and other learners, as well as ward managers and clinical educators in allocated areas. Responsibilities include supervising, teaching, and assessing learners in various clinical skills and physical examinations. The role also involves delivering student inductions and collaborating with Clinical Placement Supervisors to develop work-based teaching programs. You will assess the quality of clinical practice environments and report findings to the Educational Governance lead.
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level within health and social care or education
- Qualified first level registered nurse current on the NMC register/professional health care registration
- Hold NMC/ approved mentorship qualification

- PGCE or equivalent
- Clinical Examinations Course Level 7 or equivalent
- Knowledge & Experience
- Post registration nursing/clinical experience
- Evidence of experience in leading projects to successful outcomes
- Experience of assessing clinical staff in practice
- Evidence of experience in teaching, learning and assessing
- Experience of co-ordinating educational Programmes
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Experience of teaching and assessing in clinical practice
- Evidence of continuing education or development
- Knowledge of ethical issues
- Up to date knowledge of the educational system, curriculum in relation to Undergraduate medical students

Job summary
To support the Head of Medical Education and Medical Education Improvement Lead in ensuring the provision ofa high-quality learning environment for all learners attending clinical placements at LTHTR.Be responsible for supporting Resident doctors, Medical Students Year 3 and 5, Physician Associates, and otherlearners, Ward Managers/Team Leads, Learning Environment Managers, Practice Assessors, PracticeSupervisors and Clinical Educators in allocated placement areas.
Main duties of the job
Participate in supervision of learners as well as teaching and assessment. This will include Aseptic Non-Touch Technique, Cannulation, Venepuncture, Adult Basic Life Support and Paediatric Basic Life Support as part of clinical skills simulated assessments.
This will include assessment of learners on physical examinations, historytaking, undergraduate practice skills assessments and proficiencies in clinical practice.
Deliver student inductions (including Blood glucose training, Moving and Handling), physical examination and history taking revision sessions for medical students and some interprofessional learning sessions.
Work in partnership with Clinical Placement Supervisors (i.e. consultants at LTHTR) to plan, implement, evaluate, support and develop work-based teaching and assessment programmes defined by external partners.
