Role summary
This is a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse position in the Emergency Department, Band 7, for 37.5 hours per week. The role involves leading a team in a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Village, focusing on high-quality patient care and service development. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual with a passion for emergency care to embed new ways of working and support the team. Key responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the ED ensuring safe and efficient patient care and patient flow
- Supervise, mentor and support nursing staff, fostering professional development
- Ensure high standards of care, focusing on patient safety, dignity and experience
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of emergency care services, adapting to evolving clinical needs
- Work closely with Doctors, allied health professionals and operations teams
- Ensure appropriate use of staffing, equipment and facilities
Essential criteria
- Current NMC registration
- Professional or clinical qualification relevant to the speciality or evidence of working towards
- Evidence of study at degree level
- An understanding of the need of confidentiality awareness at all times.
- Updated research and evidence based practice
- Significant experience working in an Emergency Department in a leadership role
- Ability to work autonomously & as part of a team
- Manchester Triage qualification
- Suturing/Plastering
Desirable criteria
- Supporting learners in practice course
- Evidence of further learning
- Coaching skills
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support
- Leadership qualification
