Role summary
This role is for an Administrator and Patient Booking Clerk within the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) reception team. The post holder will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors, ensuring the smooth running of the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care. It involves providing high-quality administrative support, managing patient information, and dealing with enquiries in a busy, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work independently, managing their own workload and shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Be the first point of contact for all visitors to the departments and greet in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner.
- Obtain, check, and register confidential information from all attending patients, updating changed details and escalating multiple MRNs.
- Assist patients with the use of electronic systems such as E-Triage and Prescription Payment Kiosks.
- Deal with difficult, distressing situations and alert clinical staff to patients or situations causing concern.
- Undertake general organisation of paperwork and notes to maintain an organised department.
- Deal with general enquiries via telephone and in person, including emotional situations with patients, public, agencies, and staff.

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification
