Role summary
This is an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the Inpatient Critical Care and Surgery Therapy Team at Peterborough City Hospital. The role involves providing acute inpatient services to Critical Care, Surgical, Respiratory, and Cardiac wards, as well as Respiratory Outpatient clinics. Successful candidates need to be fully qualified and HCPC registered with relevant experience, demonstrating a dynamic and forward-thinking approach to service development. The position includes supporting a 365-day a year On Call service, requiring prior experience in this area.
Key responsibilities
- Enable Physiotherapy to provide Therapy Skills within the inpatient service.
- Ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in line with identified evidence based practice, local and national standards.
- Work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency Teams.
- Participate in delegated projects for service development with the team.
- Act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have a complex presentation.
- Undertake weekend working as required within service developments.
Essential criteria
- Completion of preceptorship programme
- Experience in use of basic IT system for data recording
- Completion of student educator course
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered
- Wide variety of experience in core rotations as a Band 5 Physiotherapist or equivalent including respiratory care
- NHS Acute Hospital Experience
- Clinical knowledge in clinical conditions associated with specialist area/sound level in theoretical knowledge of inpatient areas
- Able to work as a team member and independently
- Ability to present information in logical concise manner
- Strong belief in CPD and Reflective Practice
- Weekend working , either as part of front of house or on-call
- Basic knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team
- Good Clinical Reasoning skills
- Ability to manage own time and pressure
- Ability to demonstrate personal and clinical effectiveness to achieve optimum patient care
- Independently mobile to access all work sites within job role i.e. Manual car driver
- Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
- Able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trusts Values and Behaviours
- Be prepared to work across sites as and when required
