Role summary
This role is for a Band 6 District Nursing Sister with a CSP qualification, working within the Evening and Overnight District Nursing Service for Central Manchester. You will provide high-quality, autonomous nursing care to patients in their homes, focusing on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. The position involves clinical leadership, supervision, and mentorship for junior staff, working collaboratively with various healthcare professionals and families. You will lead the evening and out-of-hours team, respond to urgent referrals, and make informed clinical decisions in community settings, including palliative and end-of-life care, catheter, and medication management.
Essential criteria
- NMC Registration Level 1 Adult Nurse
- Registered Non-Medical Prescriber V100/V150
- Community Specialist Practitioner in District Nursing SPQDN
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Evidence of Participation in Clinical Audit
- Implementation of Audit Recommendations
- Able to demonstrate highly developed clinical practice
- IT Skills
- Aware of the wider NHS Agenda
- Able to motivate staff

Job summary
As a Band 6 District Nursing Sister with the CSP qualification within the Evening and Overnight District Nursing Service for Central Manchester you will provide high quality, autonomous nursing care to patients in their own homes. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate treatment while promoting independence and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide clinical leadership, supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students. You will work with GPs, OOH GPs, ambulance service, hospices, other community teams as well as patients family and carers.
The post requires excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills, together with the ability to work independently and able to prioritise the workload.
The hours are either 17:30 - 23:30, 18:00 - 00:00. You may be asked to do a night shift with notice which is 22:30 - 08:00.
