Role summary
This role is for an Adult Education Tutor within the Forensic Mental Health Service, based in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. The postholder will deliver group and individual tutoring to service users, focusing on skills development and confidence building. Responsibilities include creating a positive learning environment, assessing learner progress, and ensuring accreditation with Ascentis. The tutor will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high-quality educational programme aligned with learners' aspirations.
Essential criteria
- Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate or equivalent
- Recognised English/Maths qualification at Level 3 or above
Desirable criteria
- Recognised specialist qualification at level 4/5 (at least diploma level)
- Working with learners who have severe mental illness, learning disabilities and specific learning disorders eg dyslexia, dyscalculia
- Working as part of a team to deliver learning opportunities
- Working in a Forensic Mental Health setting

- Excellent communication with people from diverse backgrounds and complex needs
- Able to work autonomously

Job summary
We are seeking an engaging, motived and enthusiastic individual to join ourForensic Mental Health Service as an Adult Education Tutor. This role will be based across the Forensic Service at the Milton Keynes and Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. This role is part-time working 15 hours per week.
We are very interested in tutors who are able to support learners to work towards their aspirations. The postholder will ensure a safe and organised risk assessed learning environment, adhering to all relation security guidelines.
They will create a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere that promotes skills development and confidence. It is important toengage learners by using a range of teaching and learning strategies, adapting teaching methods to suit a diverse range of learners. You will also be responsible in assessing learner progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning and development.
The post holder will ensure ongoing accreditation with Ascentis, and will collaborate with the MDT to deliver a high-quality programme aligned with the learner's aspirations.
