Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join the Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Teams in the Black Country. The MHTR team provides psychological assessments and interventions to individuals with mental health difficulties who have come into contact with criminal justice services. The role involves supporting a Practitioner Psychologist in developing new service delivery models and undertaking protocol-based psychological assessments. The team aims to prevent short-term custodial sentences and reduce reoffending by improving access to psychological interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Support a Practitioner Psychologist in the development and evaluation of new service delivery models.
- Undertake protocol based psychological assessments of service users, including self-report measures, rating scales and semi-structured interviews.
- Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment of a service user's problems.
- Communicate and liaise with other disciplines involved in the service user's care.
- Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Prepare assessment/service evaluation reports and undertake literature reviews and audits.
Essential criteria
- A First or Upper Second class honours degree in psychology or a lower Second class degree with a post-graduate qualification, e.g. Master's degree.
- Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Has significant experience of face-to-face work with people with psychological difficulties
- Experience of using psychological assessments, formulations, risk assessments and care planning
- Experience of MDT working and working in/with the voluntary sector
Desirable criteria
- oFurther post graduate training in relevant areas of professional Psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
- Experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist.
- Experience of working with an offending population
