Role summary
This role is for a Qualified Technician to join the East Midlands Ambulance Service on a job-share basis in Scunthorpe. You will respond to 999 calls as part of an emergency ambulance crew, making clinical decisions and directing patients to appropriate care pathways. The position requires motivation, commitment, personal resilience, and excellent communication skills to provide high-quality care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide appropriate care, treatment and transportation of all categories of patients (including emergency and non-emergency cases).
- Attend cases of accident and sudden illness and respond to urgent, special and planned patient transfer requests.
- Use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to emergency and routine calls.
- Assist in the delivery of high quality and effective clinical and personal care and the transportation of patients.
- Select and apply appropriate equipment and skills in line with the scope of practice and associated training.
Essential criteria
- Must be Qualified Technician
- Full clean driving licence including Category A - old style licence - or Categories B & C1 - new style licence. Applicants with a minor speeding offence may be considered.
- Emergency Ambulance Driving Qualification
- Displays an ability to sympathise and empathise with other people, a caring disposition.
- Displays a commitment to undertake training as required/personal development

About you
You must be already working as a Qualified Technician to apply for this position. You will serve your community responding to 999 calls as part of an emergency ambulance crew. You will deal with a range of different people and situations and use clinical guidelines to manage and direct patients to the most appropriate care pathway.
