Role summary
This is a permanent Band 5/6 Development Post for a Speech and Language Therapist at Ardenleigh Hospital, Birmingham, working within Secure Care and Offender Health. The role involves working with women and under 18s who have mental health and communication needs, as part of a multidisciplinary team. It includes a 12-month preceptorship program to support progression from Band 5 to Band 6. The successful candidate will assess, plan, and implement evidence-based therapy, providing advice to other professionals and contributing to clinical team meetings.
Essential criteria
- A recognised professional degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Clinical experience of working with adults and\\or young people at undergraduate/postgraduate level (including placement experience)
- Knowledge \ experience of providing SLT assessment and intervention relevant to the population group (including placement experience)
- knowledge \ experience of triaging a caseload based on clinical reasoning relevant to the population group
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrates knowledge of how psychiatric conditions and\\or dual diagnosis's impacts on the communication skills of this population group
- Demonstrates a understanding of the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on communication needs relevant to this population group
- Demonstrates understanding of clinical governance and its relationship to clinical effectiveness and service user's safety and service user's experience relevant to the population group
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant SLT theoretical models, legislation frameworks and clinical guidelines relevant to this population group

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5\\6 Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of the multidisciplinary team at Ardenleigh Hospital, Birmingham. You will work collaboratively alongside colleagues from Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Medical and Education services. This hospital provides assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women and under 18\`s who present with mental health and communication needs. The successful post holder will work predominately in the Women\` service.
This post offers you the opportunity to develop the specialist skills required to move from a Band 5 to a Band 6 within the team. You will have access to a 12-month preceptorship training programme to support your continued development. Working as part of a supportive Speech and Language Therapy team, this post would suit an applicant who has a genuine interest in working with women and under 18's and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
We offer Monday to Friday working and flexible working requests are considered up to 37.5 hours.
