Role summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Team Lead to join the Sandwell Community Mental Health team. The role involves leading and supporting a team of dedicated OTs, overseeing the development and quality assurance of the OT service within Sandwell CMHTs. The post holder will also be an active clinical practitioner, contributing directly to clinical care and working with other Trust Services and Agencies to coordinate effective care pathways. This role offers the chance to contribute to new ways of working within the Trust.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate team activities with other Trust Services and Agencies to support effective and efficient care pathways.
- Ensure team activity supports efficient use of resources in line with allocated budget.
- Ensure team activity aligns with required performance parameters and quality standards.
- Support business planning within the Adult Mental Health Division.
- Act as an active clinical practitioner, contributing directly to the clinical care activity of the team.
- Provide professional, operational leadership and co-ordination of Occupational Therapy staff.
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Masters level qualification relevant to post or relevant masters level clinical experience
- Significant experience as a band 6/7 occupational therapist in a relevant clinical field or fields, including extensive mental health experience.
- Significant experience of multi-disciplinary working including development of effective networks/partnerships.
- Excellent working knowledge of occupational therapy practice in adult mental health settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, applied in a variety of contexts, with a variety of people, including the communication of complex, sensitive or contentious issues.
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet conflicting demands.
- Be compassionate, empathetic and caring to everyone
- Work with others. Be inclusive by understanding and valuing others to achieve the best results for everyone and everything we do
Desirable criteria
- Relevant leadership training
- Experience of involvement in quality improvement or service developments. Experience of leading and supporting change and innovation.
- Effective working knowledge of health and social care policy, including the social care context of mental health services.
