Role summary

This Dental Nurse role involves working in a busy Maxillofacial Department within a District General Hospital. The post holder will provide high-quality dental nurse care across various specialities, assist dental practitioners, and deliver pre and post-treatment instructions to patients. They will also support senior dental nurses in supervising learners and new staff, ensuring a safe and compassionate environment.

  • Registered Dental Nurse
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Desirable criteria

  • Certificate in Oral Health Education or willing to undertake. ILS
  • Experience of working within the field of Restorative Dentistry and Orthodontics
  • Experience of working within the fields of Oral Surgery.
  • Effective communication both verbal and written
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Ability to prioritise work efficiently
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and adapt to change in working practices to meet the needs of the service
  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
  • Aptitude
  • Ability to travel to all UHB sites in a timely manner.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to meet service needs

Job summary

The post is that of a Dental Nurse and the post holder will be expected to undertake duties in a busy Maxillofacial Department in a District General Hospital.

They will carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care for the benefit of the patient/client in accordance with agreed protocols.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality dental nurse care across a broad range of specialities.
  • Participate in delivery of evidence based care and to ensure consistency and continuity in the quality of care.
  • To provide a safe, welcoming and compassionate environment for patients and relatives.
  • Deliver pre and post treatment instructions to patients and relatives/carers.
  • Assist dental practitioners in undertaking four handed dentistry.
  • To support the Senior Dental Nurse in the supervision of learners and newly appointed dental nurses.
