Role summary
This role is for an experienced clinician to provide clinical and operational leadership to the Children and Young People's Autism Service in South Staffordshire. The Team Leader will manage a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality autism assessments and interventions, and driving service development. Responsibilities include staff management, clinical supervision, and maintaining clinical competencies. The post holder will also work with service users, families, and external partners to deliver excellent care.
Essential criteria
- Relevant professional qualification (for example Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work) or equivalent.
- Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist.
- Current professional registration with the relevant body NMC, SWE, HCPC or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing and recent post-registration CPD relevant to the service area.
- Evidence of substantial experience of working with children and young people with LD, Mental Health and Autism and their families
Desirable criteria
- Trained in and experience of using specialist Autism assessment tools including ADOS and ADIR.
- Training in therapeutic modality relevant to children and young people's mental health and Autism.
- Qualification / training in supervision
- Leadership Management Qualification
- Evidence of substantial experience of working with children and young people with Autism and their families
- Experience of effectively initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating operational processes.
- Evidence of improving service delivery in line with evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrable experience of effective multi-disciplinary team working.
- Experience of managing own caseload efficiently to reduce waiting times and minimise DNAs.
- Experience of inputting into Health Roster system (or equivalent electronic system to input staff absence, sickness).
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience of managing service budgets.
- Skills, knowledge and abilities
- Higher level clinical skills in the assessment, treatment and management of patients of the relevant age group.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant health and social care legislation and policy and challenges facing NHS providers.
