Role summary
This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Clinical Rotational Oncology Pharmacist to develop hospital pharmacy and oncology knowledge in a wide range of cancer treatments, including clinical trials, at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The role involves working closely with nursing, medical staff, and patients, supported by a team of oncology pharmacists. Pre-registration trainees are welcome to apply. The successful candidate will screen prescriptions, provide pharmaceutical care to cancer patients on a rotational basis, and offer highly specialised advice to patients and healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities
- Screen prescriptions clinically to promote rational drug therapy and evaluate appropriateness of regimens.
- Act as a clinic, ward, and day-case unit oncology pharmacist, providing pharmaceutical care to cancer patients on a rotational basis.
- Provide highly specialised advice concerning pharmaceutical care of cancer patients to patients, relatives, and other health professional colleagues.
- Support core services at MVCC pharmacy including clinical screen, dispense and check prescriptions, requisition inpatient requests, dose banding chemotherapy, controlled drugs, clinical trial prescription, and TTAs.
Essential criteria
- Masters Degree MPharm (or equivalent)
- Competency assessed and examined professional registration, GPhC
- Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
- Experience in pharmacy, hospital or community
- Proven presentation skills
- Good team player
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workload
- Good organisation skills
- Able to work under pressure
- Accurate and precise attention to detail

We are recruiting for a Clinical Rotational Oncology Pharmacist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will be expected to work closely with nursing and medical staff and with patients. You will be supported by a team of oncology pharmacists, to deliver pharmaceutical services to patients on day case units and wards.
In addition, you will receive a High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata.
