Role summary
This role involves providing a visible security presence at Grange University Hospital to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, and property. You will respond to incidents, conduct patrols, and support a safe healthcare environment. The position requires working night shifts on a rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays. It is a varied and rewarding role within a professional security team.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols across the hospital site.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms and emergency situations.
- Prevent, deter and investigate criminal activity and security breaches.
- Support clinical staff in the management of challenging situations and aggressive behaviour.
- Assist with fire alarm activations and emergency procedures.
- Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with external agencies including Police, Fire and Ambulance Services.
- Provide advice and support to staff, patients and visitors on security-related matters.
Essential criteria
- Good basic education e.g GCSE or equivalent
- Knowledge acquired through on the job training and experience i.e. restraint, breakaway techniques, SITO qualification
- Experience of working in a front-line security position with direct contact with clients or transferable experience from another frontline role
- Able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
- Ability to work on own initiative and minimum supervision
- Excellent communicator (both verbal and written)
- Ability to carry out several different tasks simultaneously
- Ability to maintain accurate records

Desirable criteria
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- Previous Training in Control & Restraint & physical intervention skills
- Lift evacuation training
- Previous Security experience
- Previous Healthcare experience
- Previous knowledge of CCTV systems, fire alarms, Access Control - PAC, intruder Alarm Systems
- Knowledge of Law and offences relating to security industry
- Knowledge of MS office
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards
