Role summary
This role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care to residents, promoting their dignity, independence, wellbeing, and safety. The Senior Health Care Support Worker will assist with personal care, nutrition, and medication administration, while also monitoring and reporting changes in residents' conditions. Essential criteria
- NVQ3 in Health or Social Care or equivalent demonstrable experience in a Health or Social Care setting
- Complete medication administration training within 6 months of appointment/Timeframe to be agreed on appointment
- Register with Social Care Wales within 6 months of appointment/Timeframe to be agreed on appointment
- An understanding of Health and Safety issues
Desirable criteria
- ECDL or equivalent level of computer skills
- Level 2 vocational qualification in relevant health care related subject
- Working within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency setting
- Previous experience working with people in a caring capacity
- Experience of working as part of a team

- Good interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Work within a multidisciplinary team
- Keep calm and manage stressful situations
- Explain the importance of care monitoring, audit and evaluation of Fundamentals of Care
- Flexible approach to the needs of the service

- Organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise own workload efficiently
- Use technology to undertake the role such as Microsoft Office, email, Teams
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the role including lifting, assisting with mobility and performing other manual tasks
- Some ability to speak, read and/or write Welsh, or an eagerness to learn

Job summary
To provide high quality person-centred care and support to residents, promoting dignity, independence, wellbeing, and safety. The Band 3 HCA works as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Support residents with eating, drinking, and nutritional needs. Assist with medication administration or support medication rounds in line with local policy and competency requirements. Recognise and report changes in residents' physical, mental, or emotional wellbeing. Support residents with activities that promote independence, social engagement, and quality of life. Maintain accurate care records and documentation. Follow safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and health and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with residents, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals. Provide end-of-life support and compassionate care where required
