Role summary
This role is for an Occupational Therapist passionate about Neurology and Stroke treatment, joining a dynamic team at Wycombe Hospital. The position involves rotations through Hyperacute and Acute Stroke units, Buckinghamshire Neuro Rehabilitation, Wheelchair service, Early Supported Stroke team, and other medical units. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, setting goals, developing discharge plans, and participating in group work and home visits. The team offers a supportive environment with regular supervision, appraisal, and continuous professional development opportunities.
Essential criteria
- Current registration with Health Professions Council
- Diploma /Degree in Occupational Therapy

- Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
- Specific formal courses appropriate to post speciality
- Membership of professional special interest group
- Field work/clinical educators' course
- Previous experience of a broad rotational scheme including neuro
- Attendance at post graduate courses in related fields and demonstrates reflective learning
- Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
- Experience of managing own caseload and prioritizing
- Ability to work and interact effectively within an interdisciplinary team and contribute to decision making
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development, and reflective practice
- Knowledge and application of evidence based practice and clinical reasoning

- Able to apply a range and depth of knowledge to the specialist clinical area of post

- Able to carry out a range of assessments and procedures in order to make clinical assessments and diagnosis
- Able to carry out manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling, requiring skilful and strenuous physical effort during the day
- Awareness of limitations of own professional abilities
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate, legal and in legible manner (in English)

There maybe a permanent post after this time.
The permanent post is 8 month Neurology rotations through the:
- Stroke team at Wycombe Hospital on Hyperacute and Acute Stroke units
- Buckinghamshire Neuro Rehabilitation and Wheelchair service at Amersham Hospital
- Early Supported Stroke team in the Buckinghamshire community
- Urology, Cardiology and Day assessment rotation at Wycombe hospital to maintain medical skills.
The Occupational Therapy Neurology team provides high quality stroke, medical assessment and acute rehabilitation with a Clinical specialist 8a Occupational Therapists, Band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapists, Band 6 Seniors, Band 5s, assistants and rehab engineers and has gained an A rated SSNAP score consistently for high quality!
