Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Practitioner for Safeguarding Children to join the Trust's Safeguarding team, covering maternity leave. The role involves operating as a lead practitioner within a defined geographical area, coordinating Trust safeguarding activity, and potentially having a thematic trust-wide lead. Responsibilities include representing the trust at Safeguarding Partnership subgroups, delivering training and supervision, and participating in multi-agency reviews. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in safeguarding and extensive knowledge of relevant legal frameworks.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist professional advice on managing safeguarding children and domestic abuse cases.
  • Deputise for the Safeguarding Lead for Children at Trust governance groups/committees.
  • Be an active member of local and regional safeguarding networks and working groups.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of specialist safeguarding training and practice development.
  • Facilitate effective working arrangements both directly and through PALS, in relation to safeguarding.
  • Provide cover for other senior practitioners- safeguarding, including acting as named nurse for child protection.

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse or Social Worker or relevant registered Professional with Safeguarding experience.
  • Advanced/expert understanding/application of relevant practice/standards/audit in relation to Safeguarding Children.
  • Substantial clinical experience in a specialist safeguarding children role.
  • Management experience in a specialist safeguarding children role.
  • Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations.
  • Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of policies, statutory regulations and guidance relating to Safeguarding Vulnerable people, especially children and young adults and a working knowledge of guidance relating to Safeguarding Adults at risk.

Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Practitioner for Safeguarding Children to joining our Safeguarding team within the Trust to cover Maternity Leave.

You have a proven track record in safeguarding and are able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and skills relevant to safeguarding children. You will have a working knowledge of the relevant legal framework. A Professional Qualification in health and social care would be an advantage.

You will be operating as a lead practitioner for safeguarding within a defined geographical area and may have a thematic trust wide lead for a specific area of safeguarding practice e.g. complex presentations or exploitation.

You will be responsible for co-ordination of Trust safeguarding activity within your area including:

  • Representing the trust at Safeguarding Partnership subgroups with responsibility for participating in safeguarding developments.
  • Delivering training including L3 children/adult online and face to face training.
  • Delivering Safeguarding Supervision.
  • Taking part in the duty rota at least once per week.
  • Participation in Multi agency review.
