Role summary
Join a friendly, supportive team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to coordinate volunteer services for patient discharge. You will lead and support volunteers providing rapid discharge transport, deliveries of equipment and medications, and post-discharge welfare calls. This job-share role requires excellent organisational skills, a compassionate approach, and strong communication to ensure seamless service delivery. You will help patients transition safely and positively from hospital to home.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the day-to-day operation of hospital volunteer services for patient discharge.
- Oversee rapid discharge drivers, delivery of mobility equipment, medications, and virtual ward kits.
- Manage Settle In volunteers supporting patients on their return home and volunteers making post-discharge welfare calls.
- Recruit, induct, train, and support volunteers, ensuring high standards of practice.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues to develop and improve the service.
- Manage competing priorities and work independently while building strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Essential criteria
- Specialist knowledge in people management or able to demonstrate equivalent experience and ability to operate at this level.
- Good knowledge of human resources, people management and recruitment policies to include public and voluntary sector.
- Experience of working in the NHS or other health care provider
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and to work collaboratively across professional boundaries.

Job summary
Join our friendly, supportive team and play a vital role in helping patients make a safe, timely and positive transition from hospital to home.
As Volunteer Coordinator, you will lead and support a diverse team of volunteers delivering services that make a real difference to patients' lives. You will coordinate volunteer drivers providing rapid discharge transport and deliveries of mobility equipment, medications and virtual ward kits, oversee our Settle In volunteers who help patients on the day they return home, and manage volunteers making welfare and safety-netting calls following discharge. You will also help connect patients with appropriate community support services where needed.
This is a varied, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll need excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and think on your feet, and a compassionate, person-centred approach. As this is a job-share position, so strong communication, teamwork and handover skills are essential to ensure a seamless service.
We're looking for someone who is caring, adaptable and motivated by improving patient experience. You'll enjoy building relationships with volunteers, colleagues and partner organisations.
