Role summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to lead within the Coventry Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. The role involves supporting individuals in their place of residence, focusing on reducing hospital admissions and enabling effective community-based care. You will contribute to transforming community services, aligning with NHS national priorities for shifting care from hospitals to communities. The position requires driving change, improving outcomes, and leading in a forward-thinking environment.

Essential criteria

  • oBSc Occupational Therapy (or equivalent). oCurrent Registration with Health and Care Professions Council without restriction. oPost graduate learning to Masters level or equivalent experience.

Desirable criteria

  • oPost graduate learning to Masters level. oLeadership training.
  • oEvidence of working in a multidisciplinary team oEvidence of effective caseload management. oExperience of supervising registered and/or non-registered staff (including students) oExperience of involvement in service evaluation and audit. oExperience with a range of standardised assessments oEvidence of experience at Band 6 level or equivalent supporting information
  • oCommunity experience oExperience of working in a matrix and cross organisational team
  • oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills. oAdvanced knowledge and skills in OT assessment and intervention oAbility to demonstrate team building, leadership and organisational skills. oDemonstrates an understanding and ability to practice in a centred way. oDemonstrates a thorough understanding of clinical and management supervision skills. oKnowledge of relevant legislation and guidance oAbility to locate up to date research, evidence and governance relevant to clinical area and integrate into practice. oAbility to lead and inspire others.
  • oKnowledge of local discharge pathways and performance indicators for Coventry

As Occupational Therapy Lead, you will work within thecommunity pathways, supporting the team to deliver specialised occupational therapy to individuals with a wide range of complex needs. The role involves supporting people predominantly in their place of residence, with a focus on reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and enabling safe, effective community-based care.

We are currently in the process of transforming community services in Coventry aligning with the NHS national priorities of shifting care from hospitals to communities and the implementation of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. Delivering holistic support for complex needs, preventing admissions through early intervention, and using digital tools to improve health outcomes and tackle inequalities. This involves multi-disciplinary teams working together locally to embed joined-up care, reducing hospital demand, and empowering communities for better prevention and access.
